About Workman Brass

Workman Brass is owned and operated by Lucas Workman. He is a native of Washington Court House, Ohio received his Bachelors in Horn Performance from Capital University’s Conservatory of Music in 2011. While he was there he had the privilege of studying under Nicholas J Perrini, Julia Rose, and Kimberly McCann.

In the fall of 2011 he began attending the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University to pursue graduate studies. He studied under Jeffrey Nelsen and Dale Clevenger.

During his time at IU he began studying horn making and repair under the study of world renowned historical horn maker Richard Seraphinoff. This allowed for the building of a foundation of skills that have been passed down since the beginning of brass instrument making.

In February of 2016 he accepted the position of Chief Repair Technician at Siegfried’s Call. It was here where Lucas honed his skills as a repair technician and craftsman. Under the guidance of Scott Bacon and later Martin Ecker of Dieter Otto, Lucas adopted many of the methods and mindsets that prevail in Germany. This has allowed Lucas to provide services and work that world class professionals have relied on

In 2020 after the closure of Siegfried’s Call, Lucas decided to open his own repair shop to continue his craft and carry on the legacy and world class standards that Siegfried’s Call has instilled on the horn world.

Lucas can also be seen performing with various ensembles and orchestras around the Hudson Valley.
